Meditation

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years. It was originally used to deepen a person’s understanding of the sacred and natural forces around us. In our day, meditation is used for relaxation and stress reduction. Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and the ability to maintain balance in your life amidst so many demands and stress causing situations. At Melrose Recovery Center, our meditation instruction is designed to introduce you to this technique enabling you to become more focused on the present and increase your self-awareness.

One of the most important elements of meditation is the ability to focus your attention. This can help you free yourself from the many distractions that can cause stress and worry. As we help you to gain focus, we will encourage you to use relaxed, deep breathing. As you begin to do this your breathing begins to slow and you can take in more oxygen. You will be breathing more effectively and feeling more relaxed.

As you meditate you can clear away the information overload that builds up on a daily basis and you can benefit emotionally from gaining new perspectives on stressful situations, build skills to manage your stress, and reduce any negative emotions that might be building in your life.

The practice of meditation is considered a kind of mind-body connection that can produce a deep state of relaxation in the body and calmness of mind. By focusing your attention, it is possible for you to eliminate the fast paced jumble of everyday living. Meditation, even a few minutes a day, can enhance your physical and emotional well-being. As you become better at focusing through meditation training, you can develop more control over how you react to unexpected circumstances that arise in your life.

During classes you will learn to maintain and control your attention until you can maintain a focused attention, disengage and shift focus to something else. You will learn to be aware of where your attention is focused and be enabled to shift focus to what you want to control. This will allow you to become less reactive to external situations and better able to eliminate stress, whatever the source.

Our classes will introduce you to this skill that can enhance your life and give you a sense of well-being. You will grow in the personal awareness of your own strengths to overcome the challenges of life. Call today, (855) 512-5033.
